Movie critic: Dale Steyn won't be getting a call from the Oscars

Proteas fast bowler Dale Steyn's cameo role in romantic comedy Blended, starring Hollywood duo Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore, will surprise old fans and win new ones," according to popular Cape Town movie critic Stephen Aspeling.
The film, which marks the third collaboration between Sandler and Barrymore after The Wedding Singer and 50 First Dates, was released in America earlier this month – and arrived in South African cinemas this week.
"Steyn's cameo sees him bowling to Sandler's step-kid-to-be and while not the best showcase of Steyn's sporting talents, he managed to get a couple of lines as a character named Dale," Aspeling told Cricket365.
"Playing yourself on camera isn't easy, just ask Jerry Seinfeld, and while Steyn shows promise as one of the few cricketer-turned-actors, there's a good chance he won't be getting a call from the Academy… at least the one that dishes out Oscars. Who knows, we could see him starring in a straight-to-video 'Die Hard' rip-off in the near future… 'Steyn Alive'?
