Mumbai Indians not thinking about net run rate just yet

The Mumbai Indians will have the luxury of knowing exactly what they have to do on Sunday to progress to the Indian Premier League playoffs.
After an impressive season Suryakumar Yadav is among the leading runscorers having notched over 500 runs so far and he says that the team remain focused on executing their skills.
Suryakumar is of the opinion that his franchise thrive under pressure and given their remarkable fightback just to be in contention for the playoffs it is hard to argue with that.
Speaking from Delhi ahead of their final round robin phase match against the Delhi Daredevils Suryakumar said: “No, I don’t think we are thinking about all that. We are thinking about what we are doing right rather than the Net Run Rate. We are focused on doing right all the small things that will help us get those two points.”
The tournament began for the Mumbai Indians with an unlikely string of very narrow defeats and Suryakumar says there was always a sense that the team were playing good cricket even if results weren’t going their way.
He added: “I think we have been playing good cricket since the first match. We didn’t start well even though we were playing good cricket.
“But coming into the latter part of the tournament, we started gaining momentum. As you’ve seen, winning the last home game and getting those two crucial points was very important for us.
“Obviously these two points will be important for us, but we will just treat it as another game.”
Suryakumar went on to say that pressure is what lends cricket its excitement making the game entertaining for the crowd and fun for the players.
He said: “This game teaches you many things. And whenever we are put in under pressure, we play good cricket. This game is all about handling pressure; if there is no pressure, then there is no fun. It brings some challenges and responsibilities as well. It is very important to stay calm in a high-pressure game”
