Mustafizur called up to Tigers’ Test squad

Mustafizur Rahman has been called to the Bangladesh Test squad for the first match against South Africa starting later this month.

The 19 year-old Mustafizur has made a sensational start to his ODI career, taking 13 wickets in four matches and now gets the chance to prove himself in the longest format of the game, replaces Abul Hasan from the squad that did duty against India in a one-off Test last month.

Bangladesh selection chief, Faruque Ahmed said: "Possibly he has been the brightest find for us in recent times.

"He has also been playing all versions of cricket this season including four-day games and we are confident that he will adjust quickly to the demands of Test cricket.
"His inclusion means that Abul Hasan has to miss out from the squad that we had in our last Test but Mustafizur deserves his call."

Batsman Mahmudullah, who scored a fifty in the second ODI against the Proteas on Sunday, also makes a return in white-clothing after missing the India match because of injury.

Faruque continued: "Obviously his (Mahmudullah's) return adds depth in the batting order and some vital experience. His offspin can also be effective and he can do the job that was expected of Shuvagata Hom who played against India."

The first Test, of a two-match series, against South Africa starts on 21 July in Chittagong.
