Narine picks CLT20 over Bangladesh Tests

The West Indies will be without spinner Sunil Narine and all-rounder Andre Russell for the two-Test series at home against Bangladesh, after they opted to play in the Champions League T20 instead.
The West Indies will be without spinner Sunil Narine and all-rounder Andre Russell for the two-Test series at home against Bangladesh, after they opted to play in the Champions League T20 instead.
The pair both play for the Kolkata Knight Riders, and have chose to go with their franchise, the IPL champions, instead of facing the Tigers next month. They will go to India for the tournament while their Test colleagues stay home.
The WICB said they would not punish the players for choosing this option: "Two players who were considered for selection to the Test squad have opted to play in the Champions League which has an ICC approved window on the international schedule.
"The players' decisions will not have any deleterious effect on consideration for future West Indies selection."
Other Windies missing out to play at the CLT20 are Dwayne Smith, Dwayne Bravo and Kieron Pollard. The 13-man squad is still a strong one, with spin options including Suleiman Benn and Shane Shillingford.
Squad: Denesh Ramdin (captain), Sulieman Benn, Jermaine Blackwood, Kraigg Brathwaite, Darren Bravo, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Kirk Edwards, Shannon Gabriel, Christopher Gayle, Jason Holder, Kemar Roach, Shane Shillingford, Jerome Taylor.
