Cricket Kenya CEO Kobus Olivier confirmed Obuya's resignation and added that national coach Robin Brown also resigned.
Olivier added that Rakeep Patel has been chosen to lead the side for the foreseeable future, while World Cup veteran Steve Tikolo will take over the coaching position in the interim.
"It is true the two have quit their positions in the bench and former World Cup veteran Steve Tikolo has been named as interim coach," Olivier told Xinhua in a telephone interview.
Kenya returned winless from the qualification tournament after losing all six their matches.
