Misbah has led his country to only one Test match victory this year and, earlier this month, endured an embarrassing 24-run defeat to minnows Zimbabwe at the Harare Sports Club.

The full squad will be announced in early October, with a list of 28 probables afford the opportunity to impress at a training camp in Lahore prior.

Batsman Mohammad Hafeez is unlikely to be among the final choices, after scoring a mere 102 runs in his last 10 Test match innings.

All-rounder Umar Amin, meanwhile, has been named skipper of the A side for the three-day warm-up fixture in Sharjah, which will precede the two Tests in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
