Pakistan name Malik, Sami in T20 squad

Pakistan have named a strong T20 squad for the two matches against Zimbabwe in Lahore, recalling batsman Shoaib Malik and fast bowler Mohammad Sami, while dropping veteran spinner Saeed Ajmal.

There were a number of changes made to the side that faced, and lost to, Bangladesh last month, with Ajmal the most notable. He failed to use his new action to positive effect. Also dropped were Imran Khan, Junaid Khan, and Haris Sohail.

Thos players will be gutted to have missed out, with this being the first international series in Pakistan in six years. Only six member of this squad, including Shahid Afridi and Wahab Riaz, have played for Pakistan on home soil.

Malik's return is a boost given that Shoaib Maqsood and Sohail Khan are still injured, and he has plenty of experience, including on home grounds. Sami, on the other hand, hasn't played for Pakistan in nearly three years.

Squad: Shahid Afridi (capt), Sarfraz Ahmed (vc), Ahmed Shehzad, Mohammad Hafeez, Mukhtar Ahmed, Nauman Anwar, Shoaib Malik, Umar Akmal, Mohammad Rizwan, Anwar Ali, Hammad Azam, Imad Wasim, Bilawal Bhatti, Wahab Riaz, Mohammad Sami
