Pakistan have recalled wicketkeeper-batsman Umar Akmal to their ODI squad to face South Africa in a five-match series, after the player was cleared by a neurologist after having seizures during the Caribbean Premier League.
Umar was cleared in September and told he could play fully again, but was not part of the Test squad playing against the Proteas in the UAE, and also missed the tour to Zimbabwe.
Also called up was Wahab Riaz and Sohaib Maqsood, while three players that went to Zimbabwe were dropped. They were pace bowlers Anwar Ali and Asad Ali, and batsman Haris Sohail.
Another biga name back in the side was Mohammad Hafeez, who was dropped from the Test side due to poor form with the bat, but whose presence in the ODI side could not be denied.
Squad: Misbah-ul-Haq (capt) Ahmed Shehzad, Nasir Jamshed, Mohammad Hafeez, Umar Amin, Umar Akmal, Shahid Afridi, Saeed Ajmal, Abdur Rehman, Mohammad Irfan, Junaid Khan, Sohail Tanvir, Wahab Riaz, Sohaib Maqsood, Asad Shafiq, Sarfraz Ahmed
