Sri Lanka Cricket and the Pakistan Cricket Board have confirmed a tour that will included two Tests and three ODIs in August.

While no tour dates have been announced yet, Pakistan are expected to arrive in Sri Lanka in late July for a tour match before the international fixtures get underway.

The series will commence a busy period for Pakistan, who will also play Australia and New Zealand in the United Arab Emirates later this year.

Sri Lanka and Pakistan met for three Tests, five ODIs and two Twenty20 Internationals in the UAE in December and January – and played each other twice in the 2014 Asia Cup.

Pakistan have played Sri Lanka five series in the past five years with home and away series in 2009, followed by Pakistan hosting Sri Lanka in 2011 and touring Sri Lanka in 2012.

The PCB's attempt to secure a bilateral series with India enjoyed headway this week. The Board of Control for Cricket in India are reportedly conferring with the players and team management before accepting or rejecting the proposed tour.

"Basically they have said they will ratify their bilateral agreements with Pakistan in a week's time," said a PCB official. "The two boards are planning to have an ODI series before the World Cup in 2015 but a full series will only be possible in December that year."
