Pandya earns India Test call up

Allrounder Hardik Pandya has been called up to the India Test squad for the first time, having been named in the 15 man unit to face England in the first two Tests.

The seam bowling allrounder has already featured for India in four ODIs and 16 T20Is and is now in line to make his bow in the game’s longest format.

KL Rahul and Shikhar Dhawan have failed to recover from their injuries in time so Gautam Gambhir retains his place in the squad.

Karun Nair has earned a recall to the squad for the injured Rohit Sharma in the middle order.

The series gets underway on November 9 in Rajkot with England not afforded any warm up games ahead of the first Test.

England won the last series they contested in India 2-1 back in 2012 but face a more settled India now who have ascended to the number one ranking in Test cricket.
