Paris to miss IPL season due to shin injury

Australia's left-arm seamer Joel Paris has been ruled out of this season's Indian Premier League (IPL), where he was due to link up with the Delhi Daredevils, due to a shin injury.

The 23-year-old Western Australia bowler suffered the injury while playing for his State in the four-day Sheffield Shield competition earlier this month.

It would have been Paris' first season in the IPL after he was bought by the Daredevils for approximately US44 400 at the auction in February.

Paris made his international debut against India in the ODI series at home in January, playing two of the three matches and collecting one wicket.

He took 35 Sheffield Shield wickets at 19.57 during the 2015-16 season, his first summer of first-class cricket, and also picked up 10 scalps at 22.40 in the Matador Cup one-day competition.

The IPL kicks off on Saturday when defending champions the Mumbai Indians take on newcomers Rising Pune Supergiants.
