PCB disappointed by Younis outburst
Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Shaharyar Khan will not pursue disciplinary action against batsman Younis Khan, who publicly criticised selection choices recently.
Younis has been dropped from the ODI squad for October’s series against Australia in the United Arab Emirates – and had not played ODI cricket since March 2013 prior to last month’s tour of Sri Lanka.
“I am a bit disappointed at the way Younis has reacted to being dropped from the ODI squad, as he is a very senior player and we have lot of respect for him,” Shaharyar told Express.
“Such statements are not worthy coming from Younis, given his stature. We have sent him a letter asking him to be careful in future and we expect him to understand the situation which does no good for the image of Pakistan cricket.
“I have plans to meet him in future so that I can hear him out and see what grievances he has, but for the moment the selectors have finalised the team for the ODI series against Australia.”
The Pakistanis and Australians will meet for a one-off Twenty20 International, three ODIs and two Tests – at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, Sharjah Cricket Stadium and Dubai International Cricket Stadium – between 5 October and 3 November.
