Philander awaits hamstring scan outcome

South Africa fast bowler Vernon Philander will have a scan on Monday after he was forced to leave the field during South Africa's 130-run loss to India in Melbourne on Sunday.

The paceman was only able to send down four over before pulling up with a left hamstring niggle, and is now in doubt for the Proteas' next match against the West Indies on Friday.

As a result of Philander leaving the field, all-rounder Wayne Parnell was entrusted with more overs than he probably would have bowled, given his poor economy rate, and ended up going for a whopping 85 runs in his nine overs.
