Philander injures ankle, doubt for second Test

South Africa seamer Vernon Philander is a doubt for the second Test against India, starting in Bangalore on Saturday, after he injured his ankle in training on Thursday.
Philander, who took three wickets in the first Test in Mohali and generally troubled the India batsman, twisted his ankle while playing warm-up football.
Vice-captain AB de Villiers said: "It was a very freakish accident. He [Philander] is very unlucky. It might be nothing, it might be bad."
If the 30 year-old Philander is ruled out of the second Test it will be big blow to the Proteas as fellow paceman Dale Steyn was already a doubtful starter as he picked up groin strain in the Mohali Test.
Fast bowler Morne Morkel, who missed the first Test due to injury, is looking like he will be available for the Bangalore game while allrounder JP Duminy will continue to be monitored in training.
South Africa lost the first Test by 108 runs and will be looking to bounce back in the four-match series.
