South Africa were entirely dominant in the series in the United Arab Emirates, but were caught entirely off guard by Pakistan at Newlands and St George's Park recently. The remainder of the series, too, might topple the score.

The venue for the third and final ODI, Centurion, was not kind to the Proteas in 2011 and earlier this year, as two heavy defeats – to Australia and the Pakistanis – dictate.

Hard conditions lined with plenty of bounce and carry in Centurion, meanwhile, should justify ongoing choices in the seam ranks – namely the selection of Morne Morkel, Dale Steyn and Vernon Philander as a collective. Perhaps there is no need to wrap the trio – or at least one – in cotton wool ahead of a genuine test against the Indians next month.

Outgunned, outlasted and outdone in the west and east, travels north will see AB de Villiers' men come good. Fancy a merry or modest punt to the tune of R50 or R5000? <a href='http://www.betflash.co.za/affiliate?id=BF_Ad_SARugby_iPadMiniBanner_001&utm_source=SARugby&utm_medium=Banner&utm_campaign=SARugby_iPadMiniBanner_26Nov2013' target='_blank' class='instorylink'><b>Betflash</b></a> will sort you out.
