Pujara to lead India ‘A’ side, Dravid coaches


Batsman Cheteshwar Pujara will captain the India 'A' side that will play two four-day 'Tests' against Australia 'A' at the end of July in what will be Rahul Dravid's first assignment since being appointed as Academy coach.

Pujura, who has played 27 Test matches, was the regular number three batter in the senior side until he was sacrificed in their last match as the Asian side went for an extra bowler in their starting team.

Other players who have played a fair amount games at the highest level include bowlers Umesh Yadav, Varun Aaron, Amit Mishra and Pragyan Ojha.

Tamil Nadu batsman Abhinav Mukund, Rajasthan off-spinner Karun Nair and wicketkeeper-batsman Naman Ojha will get a chance to impress against opposition that should be of a higher standard than in domestic cricket.

Former India batting great Dravid was appointed at the beginning of the month to oversee the talent that is coming through in Indian cricket and took the duel job of under 19 and 'A' team coach.
