Rabada ruled out of ODI series with groin strain

South Africa fast bowler Kagiso Rabada has been ruled out of the upcoming ODI series against England with a strain to his groin.
The 25-year-old was left out of the Proteas’ line-up in the third T20 against the same opponents at Newlands on Tuesday, with Lutho Sipamla selected in his place in the XI.
According to a Cricket South Africa statement, the injury to his right adductor is expected to take about three weeks to heal.
As such, Rabada will be released from the bio-bubble in Cape Town on Wednesday, at which point his recovery and rehabilitation will start.
The Proteas’ Test series against the touring Sri Lanka team starts on Boxing Day, and Rabada is expected to lead the attack for the South Africans.
A replacement for Rabada in the Proteas squad for the ODIs is unlikely to be named since a squad of 24 players were named due to the Covid-19 protocols in place.
The Proteas squad:
Quinton de Kock (captain, Momentum Multiply Titans), Temba Bavuma (Imperial Lions), Junior Dala (Momentum Multiply Titans), Faf du Plessis (Momentum Multiply Titans), Bjorn Fortuin (Imperial Lions), Beuran Hendricks (Imperial Lions), Reeza Hendricks (Imperial Lions), Heinrich Klaasen (Momentum Multiply Titans), George Linde (Six Gun Grill Cape Cobras), Keshav Maharaj (Hollywoodbets Dolphins), Janneman Malan (Six Gun Grill Cape Cobras), David Miller (Hollywoodbets Dolphins), Lungi Ngidi (Momentum Multiply Titans), Anrich Nortje (Warriors), Andile Phehlukwayo (Hollywoodbets Dolphins), Tabraiz Shamsi (Momentum Multiply Titans), Lutho Sipamla (Imperial Lions), Jon-Jon Smuts (Warriors), Glenton Stuurman (Warriors), Pite van Biljon (VKB Knights), Rassie van der Dussen (Imperial Lions), Kyle Verreynne (Six Gun Grill Cape Cobras).
