Rahane: I like to bat out of my comfort zone

India batsman Ajinkya Rahane says he will bat in any position that the team requires him to after he was shifted up and down the order in the recent Test series in Sri Lanka.

The 27 year-old batted at his usual number five position in the first Test away to Sri Lanka but was then moved up to number three for the next two Tests in a series that India eventually went on to win two-one.

With a Test series coming up at home against South Africa in November, there is a lot of debate as to the batting positions of certain players in the India team, but Rahane is unfazed.

Speaking to PTI, Rahane said: "I take it as it comes. I really enjoyed batting at number three in Sri Lanka. I got a hundred there (at no. 3) and we won the (second) Test match.

"I am ready to do whatever the team management wants me to do. I like to bat out of my comfort zone.

"That's what actually gives me that high, that happiness, as it shows that the team management and captain have belief in me, that I can bat anywhere and whatever the situation is, I am there for the team.

"That's a good sign for me as well as for the team that I can handle any situation and take the team out of any situation."

India will play the Proteas in four Tests, starting on 5 November in Mohali.
