Rahane: We’ll do well against SA spinners

India batsman Ajinkya Rahane has played down his side's poor performances against spin in the Tests against Sri Lanka, saying they are well prepared to face the slow bowlers South Africa will present.

The Proteas go to India at the end of the month for a full tour, with three T20s, five ODIs and four Tests. As such, India will need to content with Imran Tahir, Dane Piedt, JP Duminy, Eddie Leie and Aaron Phangiso.

But Rahane is confident his side will have overcome the issues they had against the likes of Rangana Herath and Tharindu Kaushal (who has since been reported for chucking).

He said in the Indian Express: "Unfortunately, we got out to spinners in Sri Lanka. We played fast bowling very well in Australia and South Africa.

"The intention was to play out their first spells and then take them on. We are just looking to improve against spin in the series against South Africa.

"I'm confident in the series against South Africa we will do well against spin.

"I don't think we are playing spin bowling badly. In Sri Lanka, you have to give credit to their spinners. Rangana Herath and Tharindu Kaushal bowled very well."
