Rashid to play for Strikers in BBL

England spinner Adil Rashid has signed a deal that will see him play for the Adelaide Strikers in the Big Bash League (BBL) later this year.

The 27 year-old Rashid will again link up with Jason Gillespie, who is also his coach at county side Yorkshire and now the mentor of the Strikers.

Rashid was left out of England's Test squad for the tour of South Africa so that he could play in the BBL and improve his white-ball game ahead of the World T20 in India next year.

Gillespie said: "As soon as we identified that we needed another spin option for this summer, Adil was one of the first names that came to mind.

"He is one of the most exciting emerging spinners on the international stage and I have watched him improve and mature year on year.

"I feel he is the perfect fit for the team and it is exciting to have him on board."
