RCB call up Shamsi to replace injured Badree

The Royal Challengers Bangalore have announced that South African spinner Tabraiz Shamsi has replaced the injured Samuel Badree in their squad for rest of this season's Indian Premier League.

A left-arm chinaman bowler, Shamsi was one of the standout slow bowlers in last year's Caribbean Premier League picking up 11 wickets for the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots.

Although uncapped at international level, the 26-year-old Shamsi has represented South Africa A and has taken 45 wickets in 44 T20 games.

RCB bowling coach Allan Donald said: "Meet our new mysterious spinner. He has arrived from Johannesburg this morning. Yet to get to know him a lot better but I've seen him bowl for the Titans.

"He is very successful with what he's done in the past couple of years so I think Dan Vettori has made a good buy for us. So lookout for a lot of mystery balls in there!"

Shamsi will join compatriots AB de Villiers and David Wiese in the Royal Challengers' squad.
