Fast bowler Mohammad Irfan has been ruled out of Pakistan's tour of South Africa, while left-armer Wahab Riaz has been dropped.

Irfan sustained a hip injury during the second and final Twenty20 International against the same opposition earlier this month, while three successive ODIs without a wicket has cost Riaz a place in the 17-man squad.

Uncapped all-rounder Bilawal Bhatti and right-arm seamer Anwar Ali, meanwhile, have been included. The former has been in particularly good form lately, including a five-for and half-century for Sui National Gas Pipelines Limited against United Bank in Faisalabad.

Batsmen Misbah-ul-Haq and Mohammad Hafeez have been retained as ODI and T20I captain respectively. The talented Umar Akmal, too, has been kept as the touring party's lone wicketkeeper-batsman.

The Proteas and Pakistanis will meet for two T20Is and three ODIs. The first T20I will get underway at the Wanderers in Johannesburg on Wednesday.

Squad: Misbah-ul-Haq, Mohammad Hafeez, Ahmed Shehzad, Umar Akmal, Umar Amin, Shahid Afridi, Abdul Razzaq, Shoaib Malik, Sohaib Maqsood, Sohail Tanvir, Anwar Ali, Junaid Khan, Saeed Ajmal, Abdur Rehman, Nasir Jamshed, Asad Shafiq, Bilawal Bhatti.
