Shahadat suspended amidst torture claim

Bangladesh fast bowler Shahadat Hossain is likely to miss the Test series against Australia in October, after he was suspended by the BCB while a police investigation into the torture of his domestic worker is underway.
Shahadat and his wife have been accused of beating and mistreating an 11-year-old girl in their employ, who has since been taken to hospital, and while the BCB haven't condemned the paceman, they have taken a firm stance during the investigation.
BCB CEO Nizam Uddin Chowdhury said: "We have taken the usual route in dealing with such matters.
"The BCB has a zero tolerance policy on acts of indiscretion by registered cricket players and we have noted the serious allegations against Shahadat.
"We will not try to draw conclusions as this matter is still being investigated.
"However, he will not be allowed to play in BCB events or train with BCB support until further notice because the accusations have embarrassed the Board."
Meanwhile, the couple have gone into hiding, and the police are using all methods to find them. The child, meanwhile, has explained to police what she allegedly endured.
Police inspector Shafiqur Rahman told AFP: "We've mobilised 10 mobile teams (of officers) to arrest him. We're making raids almost every day and are now tracking mobile phones.
"She told us that the couple beat her very often. Her hand was charred with a hot cooking paddle. She had injury marks all over her body."
