Shakib set for Cup final despite thigh injury

Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib-al-Hasan is set to play in the Asia Cup final against India on Sunday despite picking up a thigh muscle injury during training on Friday.
Shakib was struck in the upper thigh near his hip, during training, and limped away from the nets. He then only trained for a short period on Saturday.
But the team physio is confident the side's star player will be fine for Sunday, with the option of resting him ahead of the World Twenty20 seemingly not an option they want to go for.
Bayjedul Islam said on Mid Day: "Shakib has sustained a hip-flex injury after being hit by a delivery during yesterday's net session. These injuries in common language can be termed as thigh-muscle injury.
"These are known as 'conditional injuries', which normally heals in 48 hours. Today during option practice, he felt the pain again and didn't practice much. But we are hoping that he will play tomorrow.
"Medication can be taken but it may or may not work for a particular individual. Let us hope and pray that he will be okay without any need for medication."
