Shastri doesn’t want India to be slow starters

India team director Ravi Shastri wants his side to stop their habit of starting series and tournaments slowly and having to come back from behind to win.

On India's recent tour to Australia they lost the first four games of the five-match ODI series before beating the hosts in all three T20I encounters.

The Asian side then returned home and lost against a depleted Sri Lanka team in the first of three T20Is but eventually won the series two-one

As he prepares his side for the Asia Cup, starting in Bangladesh on Wednesday, and the World T20, which they will host in March, Shastri wants them to build momentum.

Shastri: "We don't want to always come from behind. Sometimes we want to start also well. So hopefully we'll be looking to do that in this tournament.

"Like I said, every game from now is important before the World Cup. Yes, we are playing the Asia Cup but the momentum is good so it's important to keep that momentum going."
