Shastri to continue as India team director

Ravi Shastri has been named as the India team director for the upcoming tour of Bangladesh which will consist of one Test match and three ODI's.

A former India international, Shastri was first appointed to the role on his country's tour of England last year in July and kept the role for the World Cup this year.

With the Asian team stll searching for a coach after Duncan Fletcher left the role, Shastri's appointment was welcomed by Test captain Virat Kohli.

Kohli told The Cricket Monthly: "He is a guy who does not shy away from responsibility. He is someone who takes the blows on the chin. He keeps moving forward.

"There is no two ways about his thinking. He is the most amazing person to have around this team right now because it is a young unit and the kind of confidence he gives. He has authority; when he speaks people respect him.

"There is no talk just for the sake of it. He is sensible and something that gives you a lot of confidence and a lot of assurance."

The Test against Bangladesh starts on 10 June while the ODI's will take place on 18, 21 and 24 June.
