Shastri to stay on until after the World T20

The BCCI has announced that Ravi Shastri will stay on as the India team director until the conclusion of the World T20, which India will host in March-April 2016.

The management team consisting of the three assistant coaches –  Sanjay Bangar, Bharat Arun and Ramakrishnan Sridhar – have also had their contracts extended until after the same competition.

The BCCI said in a statement: "Acknowledging the performance of the Indian Cricket team and the efforts of the coaching staff in recent times, the CAC endorsed the extension of their tenure."

Shastri and his three assistants first joined the squad on the England tour in August 2014 after India had just lost the Test series.

They then continued to work with the side for the World Cup earlier this year before guiding the national side to a Test-series win in Sri Lanka recently.

India will host South Africa in three T20s, five ODIs and four Tests starting in October.
