West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Smith has signed up with the Sydney Sixers for the Big Bash League in Australia at the end of the year, after some impressive performances in the recent Caribbean Premier League.
Smith scored two unbeaten centuries in the CLP, as well as a vital half century in the final against the Amazon, which saw his side to victory and thus a place in the Champions League T20 next month.
The big-hitting all-rounder said: "I'm going to come and give it my best and hopefully we can see plenty of sixes when it is my turn to play for the Sixers."
The franchise's coach, Trevor Bayliss, was pleased with the signing, saying: "Dwayne is a powerful exciting stroke-maker at the top of the order.
"He also bowls some handy medium pace and his fielding is top class."
While Smith may have helped the Tridents to the CLT20 in India, he will not be playing for them, opting to play for his IPL franchise, the Chennai Super Kings. He is one of eight players picking their IPL teams over their domestic sides.
