All-rounder Steven Smith has become a pivotal part of Australia's Test XI, but is eager to establish a permanent berth in the ODI and Twenty20 Internatoinal teams.
Smith's limited-overs career has been punctuated since February 2010's debut against Pakistan in Melbourne, but opportunity for consistency in selection will continue to knock as next year's World Cup in Australasia nears.
"It is my ambition to play all three forms for Australia. Hopefully I can keep improving and learn my game," said Smith, who represented the Rajasthan Royals in the recent Indian Premier League.
"The IPL was very good for that, I've thoroughly enjoyed my time with Rajasthan, just to keep learning, and learning how to pace my innings, keep getting in those same situations, if I do it once, I know that I can do it again."
Australia will meet Zimbabwe and South Africa across an ODI tri-series in August. Opening batsman David Warner wont' be available for this brief tour, while a handful of other senior players are likely to be rested.
"I want to play all three forms for Australia, if I get an opportunity with a few guys potentially not going to Zimbabwe, if I get an opportunity to go there hopefully I can have a good series and really keep putting my foot forward," added Smith.
