Southern Stars sublime in Sri Lanka

The Southern Stars have completed a comprehensive 5-0 sweep against Sri Lanka with a 10-wicket win in their Twenty20 fixture at the Sinhalese Sports Club Ground in Colombo today.

Chasing just 60 runs for victory, Australian openers Elyse Villani (34) and Beth Mooney (29) made light work of the chase, reaching the target with 71 balls to spare.

After winning the toss and electing to field, Australia continued their run of fast starts with Ellyse Perry (1-8) striking in just the second over.

It was slow going for Sri Lanka who struggled to construct any significant partnerships with the bat, as the leg-spin of Kristen Beams (3-11) again proved too much.

Fellow spinners Jess Jonassen (1-8) and Erin Osborne (1-5) were also among the wickets as Sri Lanka stumbled to 8-59 off 20 overs.
