Wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Chandimal has not been removed from the 15-man party – but will likely be replaced by Dickwella in the playing XI. Chandimal scored just six and one in the series opener in Galle, which the Proteas won by 153 runs.

His previous innings in the longest format of the international game, against England in Leeds last month, brought just seven. Dickwella, meanwhile, has been called up on the back of a promising stretch of form during Sri Lanka A's ongoing tour of the United Kingdom. The talented left-hander boasts a burgeoning first-class average of 34.45.

Fast bowler Shaminda Eranga was not considered for selection due to a hand injury sustained in Galle. His berth in the playing XI will likely be filled by fellow seamers Dhammika Prasad or Chanaka Welegedera.
