Sri Lanka have announced a 15-man squad for the ODI series against England later this month, with few surprises on the list as new coach Marvan Atapattu picked an experienced side.

With Angelo Mathews as skipper, Atapattu kept faith with Dinesh Chandimal despite his poor form this year, while stalwarts Mahela Jayawardene, Tillakaratne Dilshan and Kumar Sangakkara bolstered the top order.

Notable exceptions in the bowling department were fast bowler Shaminda Eranga, while spinner Rangana Herath did not feature. Ajantha Mendis and Sachithra Senanayake were handed the slow bowling berths.

Herath has been rested, so Chaturanga de Silva has been retained and will add his spin to the mix, while Ashan Priyanjan retained his place after a decent start to his international career.

The side is waiting on Lasith Malinga's arrival from the IPL, while Sangakkara is playing for Derbyshire in the County Championship and will join up with the team by Friday.

ODI squad: Angelo Mathews (Captain), Lahiru Thirimanne (V.Capt), Tillakaratne Dilshan, Kusal Perera, Kumar Sangakkara, Mahela Jayawardene, Dinesh Chandimal, Ashan Priyanjana, Sachithra Senanayake, Ajantha Mendis, Chathuranga De Silva, Lasith Malinga, Nuwan Kulasekara, Thisara Perera, Suranga Lakmal
