Interim head coach Marvan Atapattu's tenure has been extended until the end of Sri Lanka's series against Pakistan next month.

Atapattu and batting consultant Chris Adams are the frontrunners to fill the position on the permanent basis, after Englishman Paul Farbrace resigned earlier this year.

"We'll be advertising the position in this Sunday's paper," said SLC chief executive Ashley de Silva.

Erstwhile all-rounder Ruwan Kalpage will continue as acting assistant coach, while former first-class batsman Nuwan Seneviratne has been hired as fielding coach.

Senior strength and conditioning coach Mario Villavarayan, meanwhile, accepted a job with the Bangladesh Cricket Board earlier this year – and spin-bowling coach Piyal Wijetunge is considering a similar offer.
