Steyn passed fit for Boxing Day Test

South Africa received a boost ahead of the four-match Test series against England when fast bowling spearhead Dale Steyn was passed fit by his franchise team's physiotherapist.
Steyn, who injured his groin in the first Test in the recent series in India, was put was through his paces by the Cape Cobras medical staff at Newlands on Thursday.
Cobras and former Proteas physio Shane Jabaar said: "We were asked to conduct a fitness test on Dale by the Cricket South Africa medical team. He was required to bowl, field, sprint and also perform a clinical test.
"From our side, he has come through all the tests without any problem and passed the test. I am sure he will be undergoing further tests when he joins up with the national team."
The news will come as a huge relief to the Proteas as they need the world's number one paceman if the are to topple the touring English side on home soil.
The first Test between the Proteas and the Three Lions starts in Durban on Boxing Day, which will then be followed by matches in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Centurion.
