Streak would consider Zim job

Former Zimbabwe fast bowler, Heath Streak, has said he would consider the national team head coach job if it doesn't clash with his job as Gujarat Lions bowling coach.

Up until May this year, Streak was Bangladesh's bowling coach but left the post five days before the end of the contract, citing a need to spend more time with his family.

The ex-seamer was the bowling coach for Zimbabwe from 2009 until 2013.

Streak told the Chronicle: “At the moment I’m enjoying my time with the family and working at the farm. I’ve got an existing consultancy contract in India, which is what I’m focusing on,

“It’s (coaching the national team) an interesting job, but I’ll have to consider the existing contract and see if I can throw in my name.”

Former South Africa fast bowler, Makhaya Ntini, who was hired as a bowling coach, has been performing head coach duties, on an interim basis, but Zimbabwe Cricket are reportedly on the verge of advertising the post.

Ntini took up the post after former coach Dav Whatmore was sacked following a string of disappointing results, including a home series loss to Afghanistan.

The former Protea has presided over series defeats against India in ODIs and T20Is and a test series loss to New Zealand.

ZC are said to have tried to lure former India and Proteas coach Gary Kirsten to the post but failed and are pursuing former Zimbabwe star, Andy Flower, who is currently employed by the ECB.
