T20 Blast bite-size preview: Kent Spitfires

England

Brief Overview: Kent Spitfires are a side that do just ok despite a lack of big names, and they failed to advance past the group stage last year, winning just three games out of 10. Their only current international player is James Tredwell, and he's likely to be away with England much of the time.

Venue: Kent are based in the picturesque town of Canterbury and play at the St Lawrence Ground. They sometimes also play at the County Cricket Ground in Beckenham.

Batsman To Watch: Skipper Rob Key is… well, key to Kent's hopes, and is on a good run of late. He's already got a century to his name this season and will hope to boost his T20 average to more than the 24.40 it is.

Bowler To Watch: Veteran all-rounder Darren Stevens, at the age of 38, is still taking wickets with regularity for the Spitfires, and is a good fantasy pick given he won't be going anywhere with an international side, unlike spinner Tredwell. Stevens' medium pace is just frustrating enough that silly shots result in wickets.

Overseas Signings: Their sole overseas player is Australia veteran paceman Doug Bollinger, who was signed this season. He's been brilliant so far, taking 15 wickets in three County Championship matches.

Know Your Mascot: The Spitfires are represented by Bomber, and yellow and black aeroplane. He's high on life, lifting the fans' spirits when the team's fortunes go through some turbulent patches, and always has peanuts on hand.

Cricket365's Prediction: Fifth in South Division.
