Taylor takes ‘indefinite break’ from cricket

England's women's team have been dealt a heavy blow with the news that veteran wicketkeeper and batting stalwart Sarah Taylor is going to take an 'indefinite' break from the game, effective immediately.

This follows swiftly on the heels of skipper Charlotte Edwards' retirement, severely damaging England's top order but removing two of their most prolific run scorers. It also rules Taylor out of the captaincy race.

While no reasons were given for Taylor's decision, CricketHer.com reported that an ECB spokes person had said she was "taking a break from cricket, having decided to take some personal time away from the game."

They also said they would "support her, keep in touch and talk with her prior to selection for the Pakistan series and the start of the Kia Super League."

The series against Pakistan starts on 20 June so it's unlikely she'll be back for that, while her participation for Sussex is also up in the air. She has missed three of their most recent fixtures.
