Tigers’ Mahmudullah ruled out India series

Bangladesh were dealt a blow when batting allrounder Mahmudullah was ruled out of the upcoming series against India which starts later this month.

The 29 year-old, who was one of the stars of the World Cup earlier this year as the Tigers made the quarterfinals, injured his index finger on his left hand in training.

Bangladesh physio Bayjedul Islam Khan said: "Mahmudullah got hurt while training this morning. He was injured on his left index finger. X-rays have showed he has a fracture."

"He didn't train thereafter. It takes about three to four weeks for this type of fracture to heal."

The right-handed batsman, who will miss the one-off Test against their Asian rivals as well as the three ODI's, will be replaced in the squad by Nasir Hossain.

The availability of Mahmudullah for the T20's against South Africa in July is not yet clear.
