Tigers’ Sarkar ruled out of Zimbabwe series

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced that batsman Soumya Sarkar will miss the upcoming limited-overs series against Zimbabwe due to a side strain picked in training.

Sarkar picked up the injury on Tuesday while the national team prepared for the three ODIs and two T20s against the African team.

The BCB's senior physician Dr Debashis Chowdhury said: "Such injuries take around 2 to 3 weeks to heal and therefore he will miss the matches against Zimbabwe.

"He will begin his rehab under the BCB's medical team as soon as the pain subsides."

Imrul Kayes has been called up as a replacement with the left-hander last representing the Tigers in 50-over cricket at the World Cup earlier this year.

The first ODI between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe takes place in Mirpur on Saturday.
