Video of the Week: Cook's weakness

England

England captain Alastair Cook has had a run of form so poor that even India fans are feeling sorry for him as he faces their country in a five-Test series in England.

Cook hasn't scored a century in nearly 30 innings, and this video shows that he is far from comfortable on the front foot. Bowlers have worked out that if you pitch it full, either on the stumps of slightly wide of odd, he's going to struggle. He much prefers shorter deliveries he can cut or pull.

Here's a compilation of many of his dismissals over the span of his career, many of which are almost identical. Nicking off behind, to the slips, or LBW are his usual dismissals.

On the plus side, Cook has had success with the ball in this series against India, claiming his maiden wicket in the first Test. He bagged Ishant Sharma with an absolute pie, but a wicket is a wicket, as Ishant can attest to.
