Vijay fined 30 per cent of his match fee


India batsman Murali Vijay has been fined 30 per cent of his match fee for showing dissent at an umpires decision on the third day of the fourth and final Test against South Africa in Delhi.

Vijay was given out caught behind by Sri Lankan umpire Kumar Dharmasena off the bowling off fast bowler Morne Morkel but gestured that the ball hit his arm guard while walking back to the dressing room.

According to the ICC , the opening batsman breached Article 2.1.5 of the ICC code of conduct, which relates to "showing dissent at an umpire's decision during an international match".

The ICC said in a statement: "Vijay was fined 30 per cent of his match fee by (match referee) Jeff Crowe."

All level 1 breaches carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand and a maximum penalty of 50% of a player's match fee.
