Vitori banned due to illegal bowling action

Zimbabwe left-arm seamer Brian Vitori has been suspended from bowling in international cricket as his action was found to be illegal by the International Cricket Council (ICC).

The 25 year-old fast bowler was reported to have a suspect action by the match officials after Zimbabwe's T20 series against Bangladesh in January.

After undergoing an independent assessment, Vitori's bowling action was found to be going over the 15-degree limit under the ICC regulations.

As well as not being allowed to bowl in international cricket, the suspension is also recognised by domestic federations around the world.

Vitori, who has played in four Tests, 19 ODIs and 11 T20s, can apply to have his action re-assessed after he makes modifications.

Zimbabwe's squad for World T20 in India had already been chosen with Vitori not among the 15 names selected.
