The Asia Cup is a two-week blitz of cricket on the sub-continent, and while the 2016 edition will be a T20 format, it’s been all ODIs in the past, with a number of superb efforts showcased.

Hosts almost have it
Bangladesh reached the final in 2012, against Pakistan, and it was a close encounter, and one that nearly saw the hosts claim the title. Pakistan won the game by two runs, thanks to a thrilling final over.

Amazing Afridi – 2010
Shahid Afridi scored two tons in the 2010 edition,. but his 124 off just 60 balls against Bangladesh was the highlight. Boom Boom, indeed.

Amazing Afridi, again – 2014
Pakistan needed 10 runs off the final over against India, with two wickets in hand. Ravi Ashwin got a wicket with the first ball, bringing Junaid Khan to face strike. He got a single, so Shahid Afridi needed nine runs off four balls. No worries.

Mushfiqur stuns India
Bangladesh veteran Mushfiqur Rahim scored 117 runs against India in the 2014 edition, taking his side to 279 for seven. It was a cracking innings against a superior bowling attack. Unfortunately for him, Virat Kohli also had a ton up his sleeve and India won by six wickets.

Mendis makes hay against India
Sri Lanka spinner Ajantha Mendis was the reason his side won the 2008 final against India, taking an incredible 6 for 13.
