Woakes found missing Ashes ‘annoying’

England bowling all-rounder Chris Woakes has been on the sidelines for the Ashes after being injured for the start of the series, and says watching from home has been 'frustrating and annoying'.
While he has enjoyed watching the Three Lions destroy Australia and win the series with a game in hand, he had hoped to be part of it at some point. He's fit again, and hoped he'll be called to the ODI side instead.
The Birmingham Bears man said in The Mirror: "There is never a good time to have an injury. But I guess this was really bad timing with the Ashes and the success that England have had.
"It has been frustrating and annoying that I haven't been a part of things with England this summer, I would have loved it.
"After the previous 12 months in which I had broken into the side across all formats and was playing my part, I'm gutted that it was stopped by injury.
"But as an England fan I must admit I've enjoyed watching the way the guys have gone about things and for them to beat Australia was just fantastic.
"At one stage I was hoping that I might be fit enough to play some part in the Ashes, but that has gone by so fast and I've missed out, but being a part of the one day series would be good.
"I've got to put in some more performances for the Bears (in the T20 Blast), hopefully starting with the quarter-final, to put myself in the selectors thoughts and fingers crossed I'll be in it."
