Yasir ruled out of training camp with knee injury

Pakistan suffered an injury scare when Yasir Shah was ruled out of the national training camp due to a knee problem, but the legspinner is expected to be fit for the tour to England in July.

The 30-year-old Yasir was selected in an extended Pakistan squad for the training camp, taking place in Abbottabad, but complained about his knee and was immediately withdrawn from the camp.

Yasir will undergo a four-week conservative rehabilitation program which should see fighting fit for Pakistan's first of four Tests in England starting on 14 July.

A right-arm bowler, Yasir also had trouble with his knee during the ODI series against England in the UAE in November last year, suffering a meniscus tear.

The slow bowler has not played international cricket since then as he was given a suspension after testing positive for a banned substance in December, causing him to miss a tour to New Zealand, the Asia Cup and the World T20.

The suspension ended in March and Yasir did play five games in the recent Pakistan Cup, a limited-overs domestic tournament, before his latest injury.

Pakistan will want Yasir firing on all cylinders in the UK as he has been a key performer, especially in the longest format of the game.

He has taken 76 wickets in 12 Tests since he made his debut in the whites for Pakistan in 2014.
