India have given veteran batsman Yuvraj Singh another crack at the whip, naming him in their squad to face Australia in their limited-overs series, and making a number of changes from the Champions Trophy squad.

The Aussies face India in one T20 and seven ODIs, starting on 10 October in Rajkot, and this will be Yuvraj's first full series since making his comeback from lung cancer early last year.

The 31-yar-old last played an ODI in January, but was not selected for the Champions Trophy and went on to play for India A in a bid to get his name back into the main squad. Also included were Ambati Rayudu, Jaydev Unadkat and Mohammed Shami.

There were some interesting drops too, with Umesh Yadav finding himself without a place despite some good recent performances with the ball. Murali Vijay, however, was not a shocking omission, given his lack of form.

Also dropped were Dinesh Karthik and Irfan Pathan, while batsman Cheteshwar Pujara did not retain his place after making his one-day debut in Zimbabwe. He only made 13 runs in two games, and the selectors seem set to keep him as a Test specialist.

India T20I/ODI squad: Mahendra Singh Dhoni (captain), Ravichandran Ashwin, Shikhar Dhawan, Ravindra Jadeja, Virat Kohli, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ranganath Vinay Kumar, Amit Mishra, Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayudu, Mohammad Shami, Ishant Sharma, Rohit Sharma, Jaydev Unadkat, Yuvraj Singh
