Zimbabwe selectors have once again swung the axe in a harsh manner, dropping bowlers Brian Vitori and Neville Madziva for the third ODI against South Africa, despite decent efforts in the series.

Vitori took two wickets in the second ODI, while Madziva took one and scored 25 runs, the side's second-best score. But the selectors opted to go with Shingi Masakadza and Tafadzwa Kamungozi instead.

The Proteas have already won the series, taking the first game by 93 runs and the second game by 61 runs. That bowlers are being dropped is interesting, given they actually did a good job in Bulawayo, while the batsmen were the failures.

After the final ODI on Thursday, the sides will then prepare for a World Cup build up tri-series that includes Australia, which starts in Harare on 25 August. The final will be on 6 September.

Squad: Elton Chigumbura (Captain), Sikandar Raza Butt, Luke Jongwe, Tafadzwa Kamungozi, Timycen Maruma, Hamilton Masakadza, Shingirai Masakadza, Richmond Mutumbami, John Nyumbu, Tinashe Panyangara, Vusimuzi Sibanda, Brendan Taylor, Prosper Utseya, Malcolm Waller, Sean Williams
