Zimbabwe name squad for first ODI against India

The Zimbabwe selectors have announced a 15-member squad for the first ODI match against India, which will be played at the Harare Sports Club on Friday.

Outgoing convener of selectors Givemore Makoni said they will pick a squad for every ODI of the three-match series and then another squad for the two-match T20I series.

Four changes have been made to the 16-man squad that toured Pakistan in May with Charles Coventry, Craig Ervine, Roy Kaia, Tawanda Mupariwa and Christopher Mpofu being replaced by Donald Tiripano, Neville Madziva, Malcolm Waller and Regis Chakabva.

Makoni said: "In terms of balance, we have opted for nine batters, four seamers and two specialist spinners and our objective is to try and win the series. India has picked a strong side and we are taking them seriously.

"Mpofu and Kaia will be considered for the next matches in the series and Charles Coventry is in the mix for the T20I series. Ervine is still nursing a hamstring injury."
