Zimbabwe sack entire selection panel

News

The board of Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) have decided to relieve the current selection panel of their duties, with the board set to name a new set of selectors to join coach Dav Whatmore and new captain Hamilton Masakadza.

Convener of selectors Kenyon Ziehl and his panel consisting of David Mutendera and Walter Chawaguta were all let go after a board meeting earlier this month.

ZC managing director Wilfred Mukondiwa: "The board has put the selection panel on hold. The board is constantly looking at ways that they can improve the organisation and cricket in Zimbabwe.

"Time and again the board reviews how the organisation is operating and the selection panel is one area that has been reviewed. Once the process is complete and a new panel has been appointed an announcement will be made."

The African side are preparing to host India for three ODIs and three T20Is in June, with an extended squad playing practice games to earn selection.

Whatmore and bowling coach Makhaya Ntini has been asked to pick a reduced squad for the India games by which time the new selection panel will be in place.
