Zimbabwe women ready for Ireland challenge

Zimbabwe women head coach Adam Chifo is looking forward to a thrilling showdown with Ireland, declaring his team ready for the limited-overs challenge that gets underway this Thursday Harare’s Country Club.

The two teams will lock horns in three one-day matches and five Twenty-20 games at Country Club and St George’s College in the capital.

“The preparations have been very good and we are ready to take on Ireland,” said Chifo, who recently led his charges to a whitewash series victory over Namibia in Windhoek.

Although Zimbabwe beat Ireland twice during a quadrangular series in South Africa last year, Chifo has warned his charges to guard against complacency.

“We won two matches against them in South Africa last year, but they have brought a side stronger than the one we faced in the quadrangular series,” he said.

“They have included a couple of players who have been playing in the Australian Big Bash Women’s League and some who play in England so it’s pretty much a strong and more experienced side but that will not intimidate us. We are ready to take them on.”
